Description

This five pound note was issued by The Colonial Bank of Issue, which was established by the New Zealand Government to issue banknotes. The Colonial Bank of Issue ran between 1847 to 1856. Before and afterwards, trading banks issued their own bank notes until the Reserve Bank of New Zealand was established in 1934.
