Shows Manners Street looking towards the path up the hill that later became Boulcott Street, with the brick chapel and Rev. Samuel Ironside's mission house on the left and Mr Brewer's house on the right of the street. Bethune and Hunter's cattle yards are on the extreme right, with a trench and mound shown, built after the Wairau Affray of 1843 in case of attack on Wellington.
