Picture composed from two works by Charles Heaphy. The main source is his "Wata or Provision house, at Otumatua on the North shore of Cook's Strait", 1841, with the addition of the figure of 'Warepori' [Wharepouri] in the centre right foreground, pointing to his left with a pounamu patu.
