Description

Looking west from Shortland Street?, Point Britomart, across Commercial Bay, towards Smales Point, with the Waitemata Harbour and North Shore in the distance. A group of Maori are sitting at the side of the road in the foreground. Queen Street Wharf can be seen (centre right). Taken during the Government Scientific Exploring Expedition, conducted by Dr. Ferdinand Hochstetter in 1859.
