Description

Upper Hutt Deputy Mayor Hilda Billington is shown giving Totara Park School pupils Danielle Darke and Gareth Gordon a hand to plant a tree at California Park on Arbor Day in 1994. Nine children from the school joined the Deputy Mayor, city councillor Harry Kent and council staff to plant 200 native trees at the park. Each Arbor Day the council organised tree planting at one of the city's parks. Printed in greyscale in the ‘Leader’ on June 20, 1994
