Caption: Tributes to 44 years of British and New Zealand military service were paid at the funeral of John (Paddy) Sands recently. His funeral was held in the Trentham Army Camp Chapel on Friday. Mr Sands, 77, was born in Ireland in 1922 into a family with a strong military background, mainly in India. During World War II he joined the Royal Ulster Rifles and served with the British Expeditionary Force in France where he, aged 18, was one of those evacuated from Dunkirk. He saw active service...
