Caption: Many of the songs from the smash hit film Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, will feature in the stage show, Priscilla - The Tribute - at the Stokes Valley Cosmopolitan Club this Friday, February 13. The show, which is full of musical tributes to Abba, The Village People, Marlene Dietrich, Carmen Miranda and Julian Clary, played at the Wellington Summer Festival in January as part of its nationwide tour. The two and a half hour show includes music, humour and $30,000 worth of costumes which according to the production's star Liz Parker will leave audiences "visually blown away". Liz Parker, a transsexual who has Australian showbiz experience, admits that she is "pretty close" to her character in the show. It is the story of two drag queens and a trans-sexual journeying across Australia. "There is a very amusing side to it, but it is glamorous, I can assure you," says Liz. Printed in greyscale in the ‘Leader’ on February 11, 1998.
