Margaret Mahy

A DigitalNZ Story by NZ On Screen

When much loved children's author Margaret Mahy passed away in July, tributes flowed from all around the world. A generation of children have grown up reading her acclaimed books. But as a very visual writer, Mahy also had a prolific and successful screen career. Her books inspired a number of programmes, and she also wrote specifically for the screen (Maddigan's Quest, Strangers). This set of titles from NZ On Screen showcases Mahy's screen work, from writing for classic 1980s children's puppet series Woolly Valley, through to her recent award-winning series for Maori Television, Kaitangata Twitch.
