First published in 1908, the Edmonds ‘sure to rise’ cookbook became the homemaker's bible, and few households were without a copy. This is the cover of the 1914 edition. Subsequent editions also featured sunrays and the ‘sure to rise’ slogan, but usually over an image of the iconic Edmonds factory in Christchurch, which was demolished in 1990. Courtesy of Edmonds
