- Description
Thirteen-year-old Shanan Harris was wearing a cheap cycle helmet when he was catapulted from his bicycle in September 1993. Although he suffered facial injuries, and broke his elbow and one leg in two places, it could have been much worse. Doctors believed that if he had not been wearing the helmet, he could have lost an eye and the side of his face down to the bone.
