Description

In June 2010 Sir Peter Leitch was knighted for services to business and philanthropy. Born to working-class parents in Newtown, Wellington, he became a butcher in Māngere East in Auckland where he is shown in 2007. His Mad Butcher chain eventually spread throughout the country with over 35 stores. Leitch became well-known for his promotion of rugby league, his distinctive radio voice and his charity work.
