Description

New Zealand National Film Unit presents Wahine Day (1973) On 10 April 1968 the inter-island ferry (Lyttelton to Wellington) Wahine sank just inside Wellington Harbour with the total loss of 53 lives. Set in the framework of a memorial service for the shipwreck victims, the film evokes, with black and white flashbacks, the day of the storm in all its confusion and destruction.
