Description

From the Rotorua region of the North Island, this kahu kiwi is sometimes referred to as a tahekeheke. This reference is given to the design rather than the type of cloak and translates as a downward strip, in this case, the downward stripes of the pattern. Made of Kiwi feathers and black woollen hukahuka tassels, this cloak combines traditional and contemporary materials with a concentration of hukahuka tassels at the top of the cloak.
