Description

Studio portrait of four Maori girls, all with long hair, wearing kahu kiwi (kiwi feather cloaks) or korowai (tasselled cloaks). Two are seated side by side, one stands behind them and the last is reclined on the floor at their feet. The reclining girl is wearing a korowai whakahekeheke (korowai with decorative vertical panels, in this case of kiwi feather). Two short weapons (a wahaika and a patu or mere) lie on the floor by the reclining girl.
