Description

The Maritime Museum in Bluff got a new exhibit this week, thanks to the family of the last New Zealand soldier shot for desertion during World War I. Private Victor Spencer was just 18 years old when he went before the firing squad in February 1918. His official pardon took 82 years to arrive, but he finally recieved it in September 2000, and now his surviving family have donated both the Certificate of Pardon and Victors medals to their local museum in Bluff.
