After a trial run with Bowling Club dummy shoppers on Thursday September 28, the store opened on Monday October 2. This store was the first Countdown-branded store; the Woolworths store was renamed to match, years later. A colour image was printed in the Upper Hutt Leader on 4/10/2000. This brightened image has also had contrast reduced.
