F.245 built by the Yorkshire Engine Company, Sheffield; reboilered with "L" class boiler. Originally F56, 1882; F231, 1890. Second of 11 engines built by the company in 1874; makers' numbers 239-249. All named after novels by Sir Walter Scott, as were some other F-class engines. This image is taken from a photograph album created by William W. Stewart, artist, photographer and author of several books on steam trains
