An elevated view of Cobb Valley Dam in Tasman District. Construction began in 1935 as a privately funded scheme but was later taken over by the national government, with the first power produced in 1944. The station is notable for its high hydraulic head, the highest in New Zealand, and for its storage dam, completed in 1954.
