This picture of Garden Place Hill shows Victoria Street, the main thoroughfare of Hamilton in the foreground. (Discussion was ongoing for the removal of the Garden Place Hill by Hamilton Borough Council so that it could create jobs for the Unemployed. Hamilton citizens protested against the decision. The Council and Hamilton public decided to make a united effort for the preservation of the hill.)
