Description

Facsimile of the 1819 deed of sale of 13,000 acres of land at Keri Keri (Kiddee Kiddee) to the Church Missionary Society in consideration of forty eight falling axes, the first transfer of land signed in New Zealand. The deed is signed by Thomas Kendall and John Butler of the Church Missionary Society, and with the moko of Ngāpuhi chiefs Rewa (Riwha) and Hongi Hika (Shunghee Heeka).
