Thesis. This qualitative research was undertaken by interviewing eleven participants, the majority of whom were nurses, from primary health and secondary care. Three themes emerged: lack of knowledge, communication breakdown, and improving the service. The findings identify that participants were unclear about who was responsible for the initial follow-up screening test. This research highlights a need for education in primary health care regarding GDM, ongoing risks for the mother and baby involved and improved processes for follow-up postpartum screening.
