"A link with the past was found recently in Māngere when our photographer saw this old Chinese market gardener ploughing his field with a timeless horse and plough ... The horse was obviously well used to the work as he methodically plodded up and down the parsley rows, with the gardener, who would not give his name, keeping watch behind." (South Auckland Courier Central Edition, 7 May 1969, p. 1)
