Description

Aerial photograph of the Māngere airfield, 1 June 1943. The Auckland Aero Club's airfield and facilities at Māngere were commandeered for use as a flying school in September 1939 on the outbreak of World War II. They were occupied by the RNZAF for a variety of military purposes from then until December 1944. This photograph of the base was taken from an elevation of 10,000 feet.
