"Flat Bush Road [is] to be sealed. The remaining unsealed residential portion of Flat Bush Road, Otara, long a problem to the people who live there, is to be reconstructed and sealed in the very near future." (South Auckland Courier, 27 July, 1966). At the time of the photograph both the tarseal and the footpath ended at the Preston Road intersection.
