"The latest recruits from the Wellington Police College have hit the streets of South Auckland. The six new constables are from left: Andrew Walker, Mark Hodges, Dale Hearfield, Peter Tuhua, Ann Brown and Faa Vaaelua ... The recruits go part way to bringing the Otahuhu Police District up to full strength. There are still 14 jobs that remain unfilled, including positions for five detectives and six sergeants and senior sergeants." (Manukau Courier, 15 November 1988, p. 1)
