- Description
Located on the southeast corner of Grey Street and Clyde Street, the Waikato Hotel was built for Mr Philip Le Quesne in 1878. The building was designed by Mr J R Vialou and constructed by Mr Thorpe. The hotel's first proprietor was Mr Buck, who had previously worked at the Royal Hotel. Mr Buck opened for business in the first week of April 1880.
