Description

Opening day of the Flemington Cheese Factory, near Ashburton. This was the second dairy factory to open in New Zealand. The Factory was established and managed by William Harding, a son of the famed cheesemaker, Joseph Harding. In the middle of the group standing in front of the building are William and Mary Harding and Family Wimboult, Nellie, Susie, Julie and Ruth.
