The actual escape from internees in the launch Pearl on the afternoon of December 13, 1917. Showing Count von Luckner and his companions waving as they escape from Motuihe Island in the launch, Pearl. Von Luckner is the middle figure at the stern of the boat while Lieutenant Kirscheiss stands behind him. One of the other escapees stands by the mast and the Red Ensign flies from the stern.
