Description

View taken from 'Jacob's Ladder' at Fort Britomart about the year 1875. In the foreground is the old barrack wall, which enclosed the fort and Barrack Hill (now Albert Park.) The steamer stern-on to the shore (now Customs Street) is the Gemini and the paddle-steamer at the centre pier is The City of Cork. The next jetty is Queen Street wharf with the waterman's steps and the ferry office at its head. In the distance is the power-house for the docks (still under construction).
