Description

Political cartoon suggesting Czar Nicholas is callously complacent and out-of-touch with the reality of the condition of his troops in the Russo-Japanese War. Wounded General from the front: 'Your Majesty, little father of your people, we cannot go on, our men are ill, without covering, badly armed, starving and discouraged. The Japs are too good for us. Let us solicit an honourable peace.' The Czar: 'Nonsense, How dare you. I am determined to fight to the bitter end'.
