Description

This mangle, from the Venlaw homestead in Waiarikiki, features a cast iron frame and stand with bow top and screw mechanism for applying pressure and geared handle to move the wooden rollers. It has been painted green and the design in the cast iron side is quite ornate, and includes a thistle design. These appliances were originally used to wring water from wet laundry.
