Description

This is an early cast iron herd testing kit which was manufactured by the Wagner Glass Works in New York. Herd testing involves testing the milk of each cow in a dairy herd for genetics and production details. Overtime these results can be compared with herd recordings, and then used to during the breeding selection process. Herd testing began in New Zealand about 1909. Since then it has become an initial part of dairy farming. We believe that this kit dates to somewhere in the 1920s-1940s
