Description

A calico armband, stamped in red with W.W.S.A. and a crown. These armbands were worn by the New Zealand Women's War Service Auxiliary (WWSA). The WWSA was formed in 1940 by the New Zealand government to control the recruitment of Kiwi women for the armed forces. It was the forerunner to the New Zealand Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC), formed in July 1942.
