A National Bank of New Zealand cheque from 1880 made out to Jas [James] Eveleigh for seventeen pounds and fourteen shillings. The cheque appears to be a from an 1870s cheque book as the '80' in the date has been written over a 7. James Eveleigh came to Australia to work in the gold diggings before sailing to New Zealand on a trade ship.
