Description

Te Tua is an area 3.7kms south of Tūātapere. The district's first school was built here. As early as March 1897 requests were made for the development of Te Tua School. By January of 1898 a Board Commission had met with the settlers and made recommendations. The Southland Education Board also records the school as being erected in 1898. The site had the legal description of: Sec 16, Block XVII (17) Longwood S.D
