Description

Labouring men rolling wool bales along a ramp. In the middle ground is a gorge, over which the wool bales are being slung by rope, parallel with a timber and rope swing bridge. The background rises to steep, grazed, hill country. George Bourne was born in Whanganui. In c1902 he started working for the 'Weekly News' as one of their photographic artists and travelled throughout New Zealand for the next twenty years in that capacity.
