Description

Gordon Walters based most of his early prints on ideas he had developed for paintings or drawings, but he always saw Kahu as a print in its own right. It is one of several works in which he has used the koru motif vertically rather than horizontally. Walters once remarked that more work was involved in making a print than a painting. Printmaking gradually became much more important to him, and by the late 1970s he had established a close working relationship with master printmaker Mervyn Wil...
