Each of the ten glass jars in this sculpture contains a nest. Made from objects that Christine Hellyar found in the bush, on the beach, and in the garden, the nests are fragile, but they also speak to shelter, retreat and protection. At the time of making the work Hellyar was interested in the mystery of life, its preservation and its brevity. She was using natural materials in a lot of her work, and was fascinated by the way that natural objects can take on signficance and power - connecting...
