Description

William Blair Tennent (1899-1976) was Mayor Of Palmerston North 1956-1959 and City Councillor 1933-1941. He was born in Greymouth and commenced practice as a dentist in Palmerston North in 1922. He was Member of Parliament for Palmerston North 1949-1954 and for Manawatu 1957-1966. As Minister of Education 1960-1963 he was active in the establishment of the Palmerston North University College and the granting of full university status to Massey College.
