Mr Eric Christensen (left) and Mr Peter Price put up shelves in the new Palmerston North Mobile Library. The new vehicle replaced the caravan library which had been in use since 1969. It was 30ft long, 8ft wide and 11 ft tall, weighing 5 tons. The new Mobile Library was painted two shades of blue and displayed the Palmerston North coat of arms, adapted to suit the Library. It carried a book stock of 3,000 books which included 1, 400 books for children.
