FESTIVAL OF DOLLS.—Mrs. Malsudaira, wife of the Japanese Ambassador to the Court of St. James' explaining to her friends at a tea-parly in London the history of, the Festival of Dolls, which is celebrated each year in Japan. The festival dolls are not ordinary "Ningyo," to be carried about by a child but perfect miniature figures representing the Emperor and Empress, with ladies-in-waiting, archers, swordbearers, musicians, and courtiers, all in costumes, correct in every detail. This original tea-party ivas given at the Japanese Embassy in Grosvcnor Square, London, on 26th October, at which there ivas a display of all the ceremonial attendant on this important Japanese national function. .
