Description

Rubbed with lime This pate (cricket bat) made of wood, has a circular handle bound with sennit (plaited coconut husk fibre). There are designs on the batting surface rubbed with what appears to be lime. Inscribed The following text has been inscribed on the batting surface; Leulumoega-Fou, LMS, High School. Acquisition The pate once belonged to Viscount Galway, Governor General of New Zealand between 1935 and 1941. Galway briefly visited Samoa in 1939, and was presented this pate as a gift.
