Description

Discusses how the teaching of Maori weaving relies heavily on the conventions of the western classroom for its survival, which is sadly the legacy of NZ's colonial past. Considers how the art form has developed as a consequence of this, compares the old (traditional) style of teaching with the new, and recognises the compromises that have been made in the process.
