Description

Presents the case of a 26-year-old mushroom farm worker and a 49-year-old coworker who were overcome by toxic fumes generated by chicken manure slurry stored inside a water tank. Describes emergency medical treatment, with special reference to the first patient. Identifies the toxic gases to which they were exposed, including hydrogen sulphide (H2S), methane, and carbon monoxide, examining the particular health effects of exposure to H2S.
