Description

[Commissioned Research Report] In 1905, much of the Katere reserve, along with land from the Paritutu Survey District, was taken pursuant to the Public Works Act 1905 for a rifle range. This then became known as the Rewarewa Rifle Range. In the 1980s the area was included in an assessment of all Crown land in New Zealand. After the assessment Rewarewa was put up for sale. Claimants argue that the land should be returned to Ngati Te Whiti.
