Description

The single-storey cottage, with lean-to, of Major Matthew Richmond. There is a circular garden bed in front and a fenced area behind. Shutters on the windows and a low hill beyond. The timber cottage was brought, prefabricated, from the Bay of Islands by William Mason, the first Superintendant of Works in Auckland. It overlooked Official Bay. Dr Johnson, the likely artist of this drawing was a neighbour
