Description

In the first frame a master, who has just dismounted from a horse, hands a plate of food to a servant who cringes in leg-irons on the floor of a prison cell. In the second frame the master is seen taking a break from cracking rocks in a quarry in order to accept a piece of bread from the overseeer. In the background a man laughs as he reads a copy of the 'Voice of the People'. The master is probably John Cracroft Wilson who was criticised for his one-sided Masters and Servants Bill of 1865.
