Artist, navy officer and commercial artist, born in Wellington and educated in Auckland. He worked as a graphic artist until 1937 when he went to London. During World War II he served in the Royal Navy until 1946. From 1948 to the 1970s he was employed in Wellington by the Tourist and Publicity Department, and visited Antarctica to paint activities there in 1963.
