Shows the battle of Puketutu (or Mawai) at Lake Omapere, near Okaihou, between the Bay of Islands and Hokianga Harbour, with Royal Marines in the right foreground firing a Congreve rocket, ranks of soldiers, Maori in the distance, the pa surrounded by the smoke of gunfire in the background at the foot of wooded hills and the shore of the lake to the right.
