Great cumulo-nimbus cloud formation that appeared over Tararua Range at 3pm. Upper level of cloud was probably 11,000 ft or 12,000 ft. Rolling northwards it broke over Tokomaru and Palmerston North as an exceptionally severe thunderstorm with heavy rain and hail. The above view was taken from Ohau and shows Mount Wiopehu.
